On Saturday 28 September the ribbon was cut in a ceremony attended by SACMI's top management and local institutions. This inauguration sets Pack Sud on a new growth trajectory and comes in the wake of the company’s entry into the SACMI Group, which gave it access to international markets and completed its primary packaging offering
A big day for the new Pack Sud plant in Terlizzi (Bari, Italy): the inaugural ceremony, held on Saturday 28 September 2024, was attended by Pack Sud management, senior managers from SACMI and representatives of local institutions.
Pack Sud was founded in 2003. Since 2020 it has been part of the SACMI Group, a world-leading provider of machines and complete plants for the ceramic, packaging and advanced materials sectors that employs 5,200 people and has over 70 manufacturing and service companies in 27 countries.
Part of the Packaging & Chocolate Business Unit, Pack Sud has brought SACMI vital technological know-how, completing its range of primary packaging products (especially flowpack and vertical packaging machines). In parallel, joining the SACMI Group and establishing synergies with the parent company and its global network has launched Pack Sud on a new international growth trajectory.
“We’re here to celebrate yet another milestone on the highly successful journey we began four years ago,” stated the President of SACMI, Paolo Mongardi, at the inauguration. “Today, Pack Sud is an integral part of SACMI; that merger has brought key skills to our business, strengthening our range in a strategically important packaging segment. We’re also extremely proud - as today’s inauguration demonstrates - of having brought new employment and development opportunities to this beautiful area.”
Daniele Gadaleta, CEO of Pack Sud, also expressed great satisfaction. “An exceptional Italian packaging player, Pack Sud continues to grow steadily thanks to a first-rate team and the powerful synergies established in recent years. Joining SACMI was a turning point for us: we’ve honed our skills, acquired new resources and strengthened our market reputation. For this reason, I want to thank everyone, starting with the Board of Directors of the SACMI parent company and everyone at the Packaging & Chocolate Business Unit for their unwavering trust and support”.
A few weeks earlier, all the staff – 40 employees – and machines had been transferred from Corato to the new, fully modernized 4,000 m2 manufacturing facility in Terlizzi. Alongside the production of flowpack and vertical packaging machines, the new plant will also host the long-standing taralli-making machine manufacturing operations.
