Sanindusa: Portuguese soul, SACMI technology

Sanindusa was founded in 1991 in Portugal, quickly gaining a foothold on the European sanitaryware market by focusing on innovation,
aesthetic research, quality and practicality. With five production facilities and a presence in over 70 countries,
Sanindusa offers a vast product range, from sanitaryware and faucets to bathroom furnishing solutions and ceramic washbasins.
Together with SACMI, the company has launched an ambitious expansion plan that
focuses on sustainability, automation and the continuous pursuit of excellence.

Offering customized solutions that comply with strict, globally acknowledged quality standards, Sanindusa is renowned for a customer-focused approach and an ability to respond effectively to market needs.
That commitment is highlighted by the numerous international awards the company has received, which include the prestigious iF Design Award in 2016 and the German Design Award in 2022.

Tocha Project: with SACMI, the jewel in the automation 4.0 crown

Since 2018 the company has upped the pace of innovation and growth. This was achieved through a long-standing partnership with SACMI, which supplied a complete plant to renew the Tocha facility after it was seriously damaged by fire in 2017.
The new plant, inaugurated in 2020, features ultra-modern SACMI high-pressure casting technology and robotic WC glazing lines, all coordinated by the automatic LaserMove handling system (SACMI-built laser-guided vehicles, or LGVs, that set the industry standard).

A ‘doubling’ of output and introduction of the HERE supervisor

The Tocha investment marked a turning point in Sanindusa strategy: as soon as the new factory was inaugurated, it launched its 2x expansion project.
This saw Sanindusa steadily implement - alongside existing solutions such as 8 single-mold AVMs for casting complex WCs, ADMs for water tanks and AVBs for simple WCs, as well as 2 complete SACMI-Gaiotto robotic glazing lines - further technological advances that included new AVM casting cells and RobotGlaze cells.

These innovations have augmented daily output enormously and broadened the product portfolio.
To achieve 4.0 control of production flows, 2022 saw the introduction of SACMI HERE supervision software, letting Sanindusa finalize full digitalization of the production process. The use of HERE has raised operational efficiency, reduced waste and optimized use of resources, allowing real-time monitoring of key performance indicators.
In turn, HERE has been integrated with LGV handling, providing cutting-edge tracking capabilities that include display of current stocks, information on the item models being processed and time taken at each stage. The result: higher product quality and enhanced process efficiency.

Investment continues, also at the original Aveiro site

In 2023, Sanindusa again invested in the Tocha unit by purchasing additional AVM modules, boosting the plant’s output capacity for complex designer sanitaryware.
Investment has also focused on the historic Aveiro site. For example, the production of large-format Fine Fire Clay shower trays has benefited from SACMI ADS 150 technology, leading to a doubling of output in the first half of 2024 and vindicating the company's strategy of extending casting automation to the entire product portfolio. The year 2023 also saw the purchase of the new ADM 160 machine for large sinks and washbasins made of porcelain and Fine Fire Clay.
This commitment to advanced technology and innovation is also reflected in the continuous improvement of production processes, leading to an undisputed quality that has strengthened the company’s international reputation and leadership.
