New PHO 451 GREEN-OFM 8-45, complete with universal finishing machine, recently installed. The supply also includes a second OFM 8-45 for improved production efficiency and flexibility, even with the most complex article shapes. The investment consolidates a partnership of over 30 years between the leading South American manufacturer and SACMI.
Loceria Colombiana, Vajillas Corona, part of Corona Industrial, a Colombian multilatina lead player in the sanitaryware, tiles and tableware markets in the Americas – invests in its long-established production plant in the region of Caldas, not far from the city of Medellin, Colombia. With SACMI, Vajillas Corona completes the isostatic pressing line, where a new SAMA PHO 451 GREEN was recently started up together with two OFM8-45 universal finishing machines, one of which is installed on the existing 650 t press.
A SACMI partner for more than 30 years – the first supplies go back to 1988-1994 – Vajillas Corona has made this important investment to have greater flexibility to manufacture articles with complex formats, such as square or irregular shapes, in order to complete its product range. In fact, the presence of two finishing machines makes it possible to manage production flows in a highly versatile way through an automatic sorting system which sends the piece to the finishing systems, optimizing their use according to requirements, without affecting the production rate of the press.
The new press supplied is already set up to house a possible additional OFM and the entire system has been designed with a view to carrying out a subsequent upgrade with dual distribution system. The machines can be configured for unloading onto a conveyor belt with products already stacked for transfer to the storage station and glazing area.
The purchase of the press is therefore part of a significant step by Vajillas Corona to improve quality from the point of view of optimizing logistics. As with all the latest generation SAMA presses, the new PHO has been developed in the GREEN configuration reducing energy consumption by up to 30% compared to the previous version.
In terms of productivity, the new PHO 451 GREEN, complete with finishing machine, enables Vajillas Corona to manufacture up to 320 articles per hour, in the traditional round format, or 180 articles considering irregular or square shapes.
