Machine configuration to operate completely unmanned from demoulding to car loading, including green finishing and bar-code application. An investment strengthening the all-round partnership between SACMI and the Gallese (Viterbo) based manufacturer.
GSI (Gruppo Sanitari Italia), has taken another step on its journey towards full automation of casting. A new AVB machine has recently been started up - the first of its kind installed in GSI – and it is entirely dedicated to the production of bidets.
The machine set-up has been thought out to achieve full automation of all work stages – from demoulding to car loading – so that all processes are carried out without the need for an operator. With this configuration the AVB handles 4 moulds in a pack. The first robot removes the piece from the mould so that it can then be transferred to the pre-dryer and final deposit on the car.
In the path towards full automation, the solution supplied to GSI stands out due to a second smaller robot which performs the various green finishing operations on the piece just made (for example; cleaning of the outlet hole, the overflow hole and any surface burrs etc), procedures which are normally carried out manually.
Even bar-code printing, after transfer to the pre-dryer, is carried out automatically, as is washing of the supports and transfer of the finished piece to the tool for making the fixing holes on the back.
Expected production capacity is approx. 200 pieces per day, enabling GSI to free up resources to concentrate on the production - on other existing SACMI RobotCasting machines - of other types of pieces, such as complex WCs (on the 11 AVM machines), but also of high-quality design washbasins and consoles (on the 5 ADM lines).
This investment re-affirms and strengthens the partnership going back more than 20 years between SACMI and Gruppo Sanitari Italia, with continuous investments over recent times in casting and robotized glazing machines, product total tracking systems and solutions to reduce manual operations.
