From 5 to 10 February 2026, SACMI returns to Plastindia (Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi) with its full range of cap and preform production solutions. In the spotlight: the new tethered-ready slitting line
SACMI is set to play a pivotal role at the 12th edition of Plastindia, the biggest plastic packaging & processing event on the Indian subcontinent. The company will present its entire cap and preform production platform, enhanced by technological innovations and digital services that boost efficiency, quality and sustainability.
Showcased solutions will include the outstanding SFM15MA slitting line: the version at the fair will be dedicated to tethered slitting of the AB26WT14 water cap.
«Born to perform»: tethered-ready slitting line, caps and preforms
Visitors to Plastindia will have the opportunity to see the new SFM15MA, the latest model in the SACMI slitting and folding range. The fair will feature an enhanced version - up to 2,850 caps/min - that matches the high productivity of the CCM64MD press, also recently upgraded to be hyper-productive, but with lower consumption and a smaller footprint.
With SFM, caps are slit outside the mold, making slitting pattern changeovers (from tethered to standard and vice versa) extremely flexible. This allows fast adaptation of the configuration to changes in production requirements, optimizing control of the opening force and ensuring the best experience for end consumers at all times.
And that’s not all: the SFM solution is designed to streamline maintenance tasks, reduce downtime and increase overall line efficiency. This aspect - together with consistent quality and process control, direct integration with the press and the vision system – makes SFM the perfect response to modern packaging needs, explaining why SACMI and its partners have grown quickly on EU markets, where tethered caps were adopted a few years ago.
SFM smooths the transition to the new tethered standard thanks to a cost-effective solution that can be customized to meet specific market requirements. Additionally, there’s the widest range of new tethered-ready caps on the market, developed by the SACMI Rigid Packaging Lab.
The line on display will be dedicated to slitting and folding of the AB26WT14 GME 30.28 tethered-ready water cap, produced on a CCM press with a cycle time of just 1.35 seconds, the world's fastest for this cap type.
On the preform front, SACMI has expanded its technological offering with the new IPS400D press, which features electric clamping, the COOL+® system and a flexible mold architecture. The goals: high productivity, minimal consumption and simplified management.
Digitalization: Smart Pack™, Smart Care™ and quality control with AI
SACMI’s Smart Pack™ and Smart Care™ digital packages are changing the cap and preform line, making it an intelligent ‘ecosystem’ that delivers real-time monitoring of key parameters, advanced machine diagnostics, more flexible settings and performance that is optimized by faster, data-driven decisions. Alongside such solutions, SACMI offers the market’s most comprehensive range of in-line quality control systems that employ advanced algorithms and use AI to simplify the user experience.
Ultra-light tethered caps and new standards
Under the direction of the Rigid Packaging Lab, SACMI provides comprehensive product development services in compliance with the latest international standards.
Markets continue to move quickly towards the 26/22 mm standard, with SACMI offering a complete range of caps for water, CSD and hot fill.
New additions include the UniAqua™ 25/22 and 26/22 family, premium short-neck closures with a shared upper mold that maximize flexibility and efficiency. For example, the new UniAqua™ 26/22 Tethered Ready, an offshoot of the AB26WT2, can accommodate all advanced tethered patterns (e.g. TCHO).
The transition from PCO 1881, currently the most widely used standard on the market, to GME 30.40 solutions continues, providing immediate, tangible benefits in terms of competitiveness, virgin raw material savings and lower economic and environmental costs.
Thanks to simple, ready-to-use solutions such as the new AB26CSDT5 GME 30.40 26/22 mm cap, the SACMI proposal makes the transition smooth and fast. SACMI was the first to introduce this cap type on the Indian market back in 2024, winning considerable appreciation, just as it did on other markets around the world.
