Keynote lecture to be given by the director of Limes magazine on Monday 14 April 2025 at 8:30 pm. The event is open to everyone, seating capacity permitting, and will also be streamed live on YouTube. Paolo Mongardi, President of SACMI: “We’re excited to be hosting this event again, as building awareness is a vital part of our mission”
A great opportunity to see the world through the eyes of one of its most attentive, authoritative observers: Lucio Caracciolo, chief editor of Limes magazine and a leading Italian geopolitical analyst, returns to Imola with a keynotes speech called ‘America against Europe’, to be held on Monday 14th April 2025 at 8.30 pm in the SACMI Auditorium 1919.
This is the last of the seven lessons that make up the 13th Geopolitics course held by Imola’s Università Aperta, a course that provides the tools needed to understand and interpret the intertwining threads of global dynamics and how they impact local economies, communities and institutions.
For Mr. Caracciolo, one of the main speakers at the final conference of the 2023 ‘Global bluff and Ukrainian lessons’, this is an eagerly awaited return. Against an international backdrop in which the relationship between the United States and Europe appears to be under considerable strain, this meeting aims to help the audience better understand the roots and consequences of this transatlantic misalignment.
Paolo Mongardi, President of SACMI, will introduce the evening. This will be followed by Lucio Caracciolo’s lecture, moderated by Demostenes Floros, Energy Director at CER (Centro Europa Ricerche) in Rome and scientific director of the course. The concluding observations will be given by Sandra Zanardi, President of Università Aperta Imola.
“Opening our Auditorium to events like this means raising awareness”, states the President of SACMI, Paolo Mongardi. “We live in a time in which global events can have direct, even sudden repercussions on our work, our businesses and on everyday life in our communities. Facilitating the broadest possible diffusion of cultural and explanatory tools is an integral part of our cooperative commitment”.
With over 180 participants, the Geopolitics course has long been one of the most popular courses at the Università Aperta, which currently has over 1,300 active members. “These meetings are a salient part of our teaching programme”, points out Sandra Zanardi, President of Università Aperta Imola, “which organises over 50 courses each year and caters to an increasingly numerous, sophisticated target audience, also by inviting expert guest speakers and addressing complex, crucial issues with clarity”. This approach also guides us in other projects, such as the recent Festival of Languages, now in its second edition, confirming our members’ appetite for fresh cultural analysis initiatives”.
The event is open to everyone, course participants and members of the public. Admission is free while seats last. The evening will also be streamed live on YouTube.
SACMI Auditorium 1919 is in via Selice Provinciale 17A, 40026 Imola (BO).
