Attracting more than 180 students, the Geopolitics course has been one of the flagship courses of Università Aperta (which now has over 1,300 active members) for years The first lecture, scheduled for 15 October 2025, will explore the topic of “Indonesia: the Asian giant in the game of superpowers,” with Prof. Pietro Mesina of the Università Orientale in Naples.
All you need to know about the 14th edition
Coordinated by Dr. Demostenes Floros, the course continues in line with the format of previous editions, which proved to be increasingly popular on account of their ability to offer, thanks to distinguished speakers, fresh perspectives on new global scenarios.
Several ‘new voices’ will be heard during this 14th edition. Guest speakers will include Ambassadors Marco Carnelos and Carlo Marsili, Dr. Anadi ‘Hagi’ Mishra, and Prof. Alessandro Volpi from the University of Pisa. The program also sees the return of Prof. Pietro Masina (Università Orientale of Naples) and will conclude with a lecture by the coordinator, Dr. Demostenes Floros (University of Padua and CER - Centro Europa Ricerche).
April will also see Professor Lucio Caracciolo give a lecture at the Auditorium 1919 at SACMI Imola: an event open to everyone, students and citizens alike, continuing the popular, much-appreciated initiatives of 2023 and spring 2025.
“We’re very proud to continue supporting Università Aperta,” emphasizes SACMI President Paolo Mongardi, “as it brings real added value to our community. Culture, the ability to analyze and interpret reality, builds new understanding and is thus an essential part of our cooperative commitment”.
