SACMI AVB, the perfect balance between productivity and automation on a multi-mould machine

SACMI AVB, the perfect balance between productivity and automation on a multi-mould machine

The number of increasingly automated plants installed around the world, which can operate with up to 8 moulds, has now reached 35. A high output solution suitable for the total automation of handling operations downstream.

The AVB casting bench is set up for a battery of moulds dedicated to the production of open-rim WCs or bidets. The AVB has a high production output and, with the current range of machines, it is possible to install up to eight 3-, 4- or 5-part moulds making it suitable for the manufacture of other types of products too.

Thanks to its extraordinary production capacity, which can reach up to 450 WC bowls per day, and to its increasing popularity on the global market – with more than 35 plants in operation – the SACMI AVB pressure casting machine is confirmed as the market leading product for the manufacture of complex WCs.

Features

The main axis of the machine, composed of a hydraulic cylinder, guarantees accurate closure of the entire set of moulds by means of a mobile cross-bar.  The secondary axis is closed vertically thanks to a pneumatic clamping system inside the mould frame for each mould.
As with all SACMI machines, both axes of the AVB maintain proportional pressure during casting which minimizes deformation of the mould and piece whilst maximizing the lifetime of the moulds.

More flexible and robotized

The AVB solution was originally developed for forming pieces with two-part moulds and has the same structure as the ALS machine. Over time, the design has evolved to permit production of open rim WCs, both wall-hung and floor-mounted.

During the last few years many customers have adopted this solution, integrating it with robotized cells having a high degree of automation. Basically, the same top-level automation which has always been the hallmark of SACMI’s single-mould casting cells has now been extended to the AVB.

In this way, we have created AVB POWER solutions with up to 4 moulds which combine the flexibility of the demoulding robot with high production output, maintained at more than 200 pieces per day.

Integration with finishing operations

In the high-level automation configuration, the AVB is equipped with a demoulding robot for depositing the newly cast pieces onto a motor-driven conveyor belt for finishing by the operator. From here the piece is transferred to the FPV pre-dryer until it has adequately aged so that it can then be released from the support and loaded onto the car for the next work stages.

The highly automated set-up also provides an opportunity for integration with robotized green finishing. This is carried out by the robot before the pre-drying stage to improve the quality and repeatability of operations and, at the same time, increase robot efficiency.
In turn, this solution can be integrated with the bar code automatic application system with digital printer, allowing the cell to be operated in unmanned mode.

Why choose AVB POWER?

The new AVB POWER casting machine that has just been introduced can house up to 4 moulds, a configuration which makes it possible to handle a significant number of product codes for complex pieces in an efficient and repeatable way whilst maintaining high production outputs.

SACMI has equipped the robot with a car loading system with pronged forks, to simplify and optimize operations and open the way to total automation of handling stages downstream, right up to glazing.

With the AVB solution the result is a perfect balance between production capacity and automation on a multi-mould machine, taking another step with SACMI towards innovation and full automation in the sanitaryware production process.
