Argenta Cerámica thinks big with SACMI Continua+

This project - one of the most ambitious of recent years - involves the complete renovation of Factoría 1 and upgrades to other departments: a giant leap forward in product and process excellence that encompasses all the key plant technologies, handling and quality control. Argenta CEO José Cifre: “SACMI has proven itself to be a reliable partner and a strategic ally for our future.”

Argenta Cerámica, a leading Spanish manufacturer of stunning ceramic wall and floor tiles that transform outdoor areas and interiors, has joined forces with SACMI to optimize and upgrade its manufacturing facilities.

One of the most decisive in the Group's history, this project concerns Factoría 1 where, between the end of 2025 and the summer of 2026, two new Continua+ 2120 lines for the manufacture of large slabs (from 1200x1200 mm to 1200x2800 mm) will come into operation.

Founded in 1999, Argenta now has six production plants in the province of Castellón. Over the years, it has strengthened its international position by focusing on innovation, design and customer care. A long-standing partner and supplier of most of the Group's plant engineering and technology solutions, SACMI has driven Argenta's growth by providing a full range of presses, dryers and kilns alongside other systems for automatic handling, decoration and grinding.

With this latest project, SACMI has once again provided all the key plant technologies: each PCR2120 Continua+ line will feature a latest-generation seven-tier E7P dryer and a high-efficiency FMA kiln, complete with a full complement of LGV handling-storage systems that use box units for unfired items and platforms for fired ones. To complete the project, BMR has supplied a brand new squaring, grinding and polishing line.

Automation and process control are the hallmarks of the new plant. Alongside the latest-generation manufacturing machines, it also features the Optima+ automatic inspection system to ensure consistent, uncompromising quality. Moreover, the brand new SACMI adaptive deburrer automates the unfired slab finishing process.

“The aim of this project,” notes José Cifre, General Manager and member of Argenta’s Board of Directors, “is to take product quality to the next level while enhancing the efficiency and versatility of our plants. With SACMI, we’ve done more than work on new plant engineering solutions: we’ve also implemented a broader upgrade and renewal plan that encompasses all our factories. From this perspective, SACMI has proven to be a trusted partner and, above all, a strategic ally with whom to build our future.”

More specifically, to enable renovation of Factoría 1, Argenta also launched a parallel plan with SACMI to upgrade Factoría 4 by installing a new PH8200 press, new BMR grinding lines and by expanding the LGV pool for handling slabs on platforms. Simultaneously, the carefully thought-out logistics of the project (for the disassembly, relocation and start-up of the new machines) will ensure continuity of production every step of the way.
